Monica Cooney, PT, DPT

Monica is a licensed physical therapist and the founder of Triform Therapy. At the young age of 14, Monica was set in becoming a pediatric physical therapist. She began volunteering at New Orleans Children’s Hospital in high school before attending Louisiana State University for her undergraduate degree. During this time, Monica underwent bilateral shoulder reconstruction which resulted in a change of interest to Orthopedics. Monica spent 3 years working in outpatient orthopedics before pursuing her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from St. Augustine University for Health Sciences. With graduation approaching and all eyes on the orthopedic world, Monica headed into her final clinical rotation in which she was randomly placed in a pediatric setting- Melanie Massey Physical Therapy… and the rest is history! Upon graduating, Monica accepted a position as a pediatric PT and helped start up and manage a large clinic in Opelousas, La. Having worked in multiple clinical jobs, Monica wanted to have her own clinic that focused on quality patient care and increased accessibility to therapy, which led her to open Triform Therapy in 2018. With over 10 years of experience, Monica is skilled in impairment-based treatments to help patients achieve functional goals. She is also a certified level C DMI therapist and is passionate about the intensive therapy model. Monica currently resides in Baton Rouge, La with her husband and 3 beautiful babies.
